The year was 1971 and the place was a stylish beach resort in Saint Tropez, France, where a young man sat cutting up pieces of table cloth and fashioning them into swimming trunks. Soon thereafter, this young pioneer began his search for the perfect fabric to compliment the innovative cut and came up with a quick-drying spinnaker canvas.
His vision paved the way for a new style: Boxer short trunks, which rapidly grew into a ‘must have’ item. Hence, Vilebrequin was born: a brand characterized by explosive colors, exceptional designs and avant-garde fabrics. The success of the brand led to its first boutique opening in 1996 in the very place where it originated. Today the brand has an international presence carrying with it the spirit of Saint Tropez across the world. Now Vilebrequin has opened a new store in Mall of the Emirates. The boutique radiates the essence of the brand featuring handmade clay tile flooring, wicker furniture and lanterns reminiscent of Saint Tropez’s port. Strategically located in the ground floor atrium, the Vilebrequin store now features the SS12 collection: Colors of India. The collection pays tribute to the 4,000-year-old textile tradition of India, drawing inspiration from saris and turbans, while playfully honoring the animals, and not only the people, that live there.
