Established in 1981, Merrell was formed when custom boot-maker Randy J. Merrell (R.J Merrell) joined forces with Clark Matis and John Schweizer, two executives for the Rossignol ski company. Their combined expertise was a match made in heaven, with outdoor product experience and practical knowledge and expert shoe design cementing the foundation of Merrell products to this very day.
