Even though the new academic term is underway, there’s still lots of great back to school deals to be found during this year’s Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) – but time is running out!
The summer-long festival of shopping, which ends on 4 September, is the perfect opportunity for families and students of all ages to pick up any classroom essentials they might have missed during the back-to-school rush with big savings available on must-have electronics, stationary, footwear and fashion lines.
Organised by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), DSS promotes Dubai as a fun, open, welcoming and safe destination with all of the participating venues, stores and malls following the important health and safety procedures, including social distancing and the wearing of masks at all times.
DFRE highlights some of the best deals available to shoppers as part of the DSS back to school promotion:
ELECTRONICS
A one-stop-shop for back to school gadgets, Emax Electronics has a wide variety of devices available for students plus great free gifts for selected purchases. As part of the retailer’s promotion, students and families who buy a MacBook Air laptop worth AED3,999 will receive a bag, a mouse and a set of headphones as a gift. Customers who buy a Lenovo laptop worth AED3,499 will be gifted with a Ferrari-branded bag while a free headset, bag and a mouse will be presented to shoppers who purchase a Dell laptop worth AED4,049. Shoppers can also get AED500 cashback as part of a laptop exchange offer plus have a chance to Scratch and Win gifts including a Samsung 65 inch TV, iPhone 12, AirPods Pro and more.
Residents and visitors are invited to try their luck at winning cash prizes during the back to school period with Sharaf DG. As part of a special in-store game, customers can enter a ‘money booth’ to collect as many gift coupons as possible in 30 seconds. For every coupon picked up, shoppers will be entered into a raffle draw to win Sharaf DG gift vouchers valued at AED1,000, AED750 and AED500. The game is held at Sharaf DG’s Ibn Battuta Mall and Times Square Centre stores. Plus, the Sharaf DG Back To School Express Sale will be held for two hours only on 2 September at Times Square Centre and 4 September at Ibn Battuta.
STATIONARY
Going back to class means stocking up on stationary essentials. Customers at Typo stores can find Spinout Notebooks, in A4 and A5 sizes, starting from AED49 for four, Campus Notebooks starting at four for AED79 in A5 and four for AED99 in A4, plus Buffalo Journals from AED34. Laptop cases and backpacks start from AED109 and a selection of pens start at just AED25 for five. What’s more, students can get 10 per cent off the total bill when they present their student ID. Back to school deals at Borders include Buy Two, Get The Third Free offers on selected books and games. Customers who spend AED500 or AED300 will receive gift vouchers worth AED50 [IHoC1] with AE30 vouchers for spends of AED250. Students who pick up AED50 worth of Staedtler products will receive a free pencil holder.
FOOTWEAR
A comfortable and stylish favourite of students everywhere, footwear brand Clark’s will donate a pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair purchased during this year’s back to school shopping promotion. A great way for youngsters returning to class to help those less fortunate, the promotion applies to shoes bought in stores and online. For every AED300 customers spend at Adidas stores they will receive AED100 off, with up to 50 per cent off at Adidas Factory Outlets as part of the sportswear brand’s great back to school promotion. The brand has cut prices from 50 to 70 per cent, with savings to be enjoyed across a wide range of items for students of all ages. Shoppers who spend AED2,000 at Michael Kors will enjoy savings of 10 per cent on the final bill.
