The Mohammed Bin Rashid Global Centre for Endowment Consultancy (MBRGCEC), operating under the umbrella of Awqaf and Minors Affairs Foundation (AMAF), has awarded Union Coop the ‘Dubai Endowment Sign’ in recognition of its contribution through CSR initiatives for the year 2020, in addition to sustainable community initiatives within the scope of social responsibility programs implemented by Union Coop.
The honor was received by H.E. Majid Hamad Rahma Al Shamsi, Chairman of Union Coop from H.E.Essa Al Ghurair, Chairman of MBRGCEC and AMAF, in the presence of Mr. Ali Al-Mutawa, the Secretary-General of AMAF, Mr. Khalid Al Thani, Deputy Secretary-General of AMAF, and ZainabJuma Al Tamimi, Director of MBRGCEC, Mohamed Al Kamzari, Head of Public Relations and Communications,and Dr. Suhail Al Bastaki, Director of Happiness & Marketing Department, Union Coop.
This came during the coordination meeting held at the Al Warqa City Mall building of the Union Coop. This comes within the framework of efforts to enhance communication and joint coordination between the two institutions.
The MBRGCECpresents the Dubai Endowment Sign in recognition of the efforts, initiatives and programs of government and private institutions keen to design, implement and provide community contributions based on the concept of innovative endowment.
On this occasion, H.E. Majid Hamad Rahma Al Shamsi, Chairman of Union Coop affirmed Union Coop’s keenness to support all initiatives and programs launched by the Dubai government in various scientific, social, humanitarian and economic fields, based on the noble values inherited fromThe late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (May Allah Rest His Soul), the founding father of the United Arab Emirates. These initiatives uphold social responsibility and the spirit of collaboration and cooperation between members of the community and its institutions, as well as based on the corporate social responsibility goals of Union Coop towards the nation and society, adopted since its inception in 1984.
He added: – “Union Coop is one of the first entities to respond to the global vision of endowment, launched byH.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and ruler of Dubai, which focuses on reviving the spirit of donation or endowment to achieve sustainable development for society, and strengthening Dubai’s position as the global capital of innovation in the field of endowment and the consolidation of its concept.”
He affirmed that: – “Union Coop’s acquisition of the ‘Dubai Endowment Sign’ represents an incentive to continue our work in contributing to the development of society through the endowment to achieve qualitative growth in charitable and humanitarian work, which is in line with the directives of the wise leadership, and we look forward to our cooperation with the Mohammed Bin Rashid Global Centre for Endowment Consultancy, which works to contribute to the development of society.”
For his part, H.E.Essa Al Ghurair, Chairman of MBRGCEC and AMAF said: – “Union Coop deserved the ‘Dubai Endowment Sign’ from the Mohammed Bin Rashid Global Centre for Endowment Consultancy, in appreciation of the endowment and humanitarian initiatives it provided to the community, and in view of its charitable contributions in meeting the needs the community within the various educational, health, economic and other sectors, which is in line with the Dubai Global Vision for endowments launched byH.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and ruler of Dubai.”
Al Ghurair added that the Foundation is looking for Union Coop to be a role model for various institutions to follow by presenting innovative endowment initiatives that contribute to effective participation in developing community needs and enhancing the spirit of social solidarity between institutions and individuals.
It should be noted that the Union Coop, since 2017 until the end of August of this year, implemented 89 initiatives, valued at AED 115 million and 401 thousand and included endowment and humanitarian initiatives and charitable community contributions in the education, economy, humanitarian and social security sector, empowering people of determination, and shareholder support programs, the Islamic sector and the health sector. It is worth noting that Union Coop allocated a support package in line with the efforts of the Dubai government to limit the spread of the new Coronavirus, as it spent AED 23 million and 336 thousand from the beginning of the pandemic until the end of August.
