Sprout, the UAE’s leading nutrient-dense kids meal companies, has officially launched its ready-to-(h)eat food in Spinneys, available in three locations across Dubai. Just a year after launching the company amidst COVID-19 in 2020, Sprout has successfully grown into one of the most sought-after kids meal-prep companies boasting of a variety of nutrient-dense and delicious meals for the little ones.
With the launch of its incubator programme for micro food and beverage suppliers in the UAE last May, supermarket brand Spinneys was on a drive to support local food production as well as stimulate economic growth in the sector. Given the name ‘Let’s Do Better Together’, the corporate sustainability initiative aimed to fast-track supermarket listings for innovative F&B businesses. With this opportunity in mind, Sprout went up against 160 other local businesses, and in January 2021, the brand had been accepted into the initiative and granted the opportunity to shelf its ready-made meals within various Spinneys locations.
This month, Sprout has officially launched four of its cult favorite meals in three Spinneys locations: The Town Center in Meadows, Al Safa, and Motor City. Sprout’s freshly prepared and most popular ‘Mac Ain’t Cheese’, ‘Easy Peasy Bolognesy’, ‘Kung Fu Rice’, and ‘X-Ray Vision Potion’ are now available in the refrigerator section of the three locations. Additionally, Spinneys customers are encouraged to scan the QR code on the lid to trade their glass jars for free Sprout treats! The nutrient dense toddler and childrens’ meals will continue to grow exponentially with its latest business move, bringing UAE families a clean and unprocessed alternative, with their fresh, wholesome ingredients.
Sprout was born when Biochemist Oz Erbas and Marketing Technologist Katerina Papatryfon took notice of the lack of fiber, vitamins, or minerals that children were receiving in comparison to the amount of calories their food gave them. This lack of a well-rounded diet fuels many known childhood ailments, such as constipation or obesity. Children need more whole grains, legumes, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds on a daily basis. Disappointed by the food options available, Erbas and Papatryfon went on a mission to feed their own children and those around the UAE better, and so Sprout was born.
The company specializes in nutrient-dense foods aimed at kids between the ages of 1-10 years. All-time favorites, such as Mac’N’Cheese have been overhauled by scientists in collaboration with nutrition experts and chefs trained in nutrition to achieve a target nutrient profile. The ready-to-(h)eat meal jars are jam-packed with goodness: fiber, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals which are meticulously calculated for little humans with big minds, and the best part is, adults can enjoy them too. The company promises that by replacing just one typical kid’s meal a day with any Sprout meal, a child will get a boost in fiber, vitamins, and minerals that they likely would have missed out on.
Sprout is a proud liaison of the Physicians Association of Nutrition (PAN, www.pan-int.org); The company stays up-to-date on the latest in pediatric nutrition research by attending medical congresses and events.
The meals are made with 100% whole plant foods and heavily use locally sourced and organic ingredients. Following a zero-waste aspiration for their direct-to-consumer channel, all foods are made to order and unnecessary food waste is avoided. All meals are sold in glass jars which are recollected and reused making Sprout the UAE’s first, full-circle, reusable packaging food business.
Sprout foods can be ordered online at www.sprout.ae with delivery all over the UAE in addition to its new availability at Spinneys in The Town Center in Meadows, Al Safa, and Motor City.
